Kuantan is on the east coast of Malaysia situated on the Kuantan River. It takes around 2.5 hours by car to get to Kuatan from Kuala Lumpur. Kuantan is the capital city of Pahang state, the largest state in mainland Malaysia.

Kuantan has a population of just over 500,000 people and is quickly being developed into a seaside resort for tourists. Amongst some large beach resorts there are also a number of theme parks including one with a huge wave pool.

The main beach is Teluk Cempadak Beach.

The night markets in Kuantan offer a great selection of foods including grilled fish and Kuantans famous fish crackers. Also on offer is some great Indian food.

Lake Chini is the second largest lake in Malaysia, the largest being Lake Kenyir in Taman Negara.
