Getting to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

The following airlines have flights to and from Kuala Lumpur to cities within Malaysia and international destinations:

Berjaya Air have direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Redang Island, Tioman Island, Pangkor Island, Singapore and Koh Samui in Thailand.

Firefly is a new Malaysian budget airline flying between Malaysia and Sumatra. Firefly have direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Selat, Johor Bahru, Kerteh, Kota Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Langkawi, and Penang in Malaysia. Also to Batam, Medan, Padang and Pekanbaru in Sumatra Indonesia and Koh Samui and Phuket in Thailand.

Air Asia flies direct from Kuala Lumpur to Medan Sumatra Indonesia.

Jetstar is a low cost airline that has direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Perth Australia and Singapore.

Silk Air have direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, flight times is around 55 minutes.

Lion Air have direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta Indonesia. Flight time is around 2 hours.

Cebu Pacific Air have direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Manila with connecting flights to 17 cities in the Philippines and to Taipei Taiwan and Hong Kong. Flight time from Kuala Lumpur to Manila is around 2 hours 30 minutes

Brunei Air have direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Brunei Darussalam. Flight time is around 1 hour 20 minutes.

Tiger Airways is a budget airline with direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangalore and Chennai in India, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Padang in Sumatra Indonesia, Perth in Australia, Shenzhen in China and also to Singapore.

From Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Airlines have flights to most airports in Malaysia and to destinations all over the world.

To get from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the centre of KL there are a number of options:

There is a taxi counter at the airport to purchase a coupon for your trip into the city which will cost RM56.60 for budget taxi or RM92.40 for deluxe taxi.

There is also a public bus service running from the KLIA terminals to KL Sentral.

KLIA Ekspress is a high speed train service connecting the airport to Kuala Lumpur and also south to Putrajaya. The service runs 24 hours a day with trains every 15 minutess in peak times and every 30 minutes in non-peak times. Cost is RM35 per adult. By bus

Malaysia's road system is modern and extensive so using buses to travel around is economical and comfortable.

Buses go to and from Kuala Lumpur to all the major cities and towns in Malaysia.

The bus terminal Puduraya is located close to Chinatown and has regular buses going to Melaka. Buses start at 7am through to 10pm. The trip to Melaka takes 2 hours. Cost is RM10.

By Train

The train station at Kuala Lumpur was built in 1910 and is a tourist attraction in itself. Trains from here go to Butterworth (close to Penang) and onwards to Thailand or south to Singapore.

There is now an electronic train service which travels between Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, the travel time is 2 hours with the trains top speed of 168Km/h.
